A call to the princes to stab, smite, and slay the rebels, published as the risings were already being crushed and tens of thousands killed.

Why it lasted

Catalogued because it must be known: the most damaging thing Luther ever wrote, which cost the Reformation the loyalty of the peasantry and which he never retracted.
