What it is
Forty-four letters, including the exchange in which Braulio spends years nagging Isidore for the finished Etymologies and finally receives it unrevised, with a note asking him to correct it. The life of Aemilian describes a hermit of the Rioja hills.
Why it lasted
The reason the Etymologies exists in the form it does — Isidore died before revising it, and Braulio divided it into books and published it. Most of what the Middle Ages knew about anything passed through that editorial decision.
