Commentary on the Song of Songs

What it is
Written at twenty-seven at a king's request, reading the Song as the marriage of Christ and the church and defending, at length, the right to read a love poem as scripture at all.
Why it lasted
The first substantial work by the man Armenians regard as their greatest writer, and the apprenticeship for the Book of Lamentations. Gregory was declared a Doctor of the Church by Rome in 2015 — the only Armenian so named.
