On the Sacrament of the Altar
Thomas à Kempis · c. 1380–1471
What it is
The fourth book of the Imitation, circulating separately for much of its history: a dialogue between Christ and the communicant on approaching the sacrament.
Why it lasted
Often copied and printed on its own, and the part of the Imitation that Protestants most often left out.
Where to read it
This work is in the public domain and can be read in full, free, at the archives below. The Library catalogues it; it does not host the text.
These open a search on each archive rather than a direct link, which is the honest way to point at an edition nobody here has checked line by line.
