What it is
The eucharistic rite of Jerusalem, with the fullest of all ancient anaphoras: a long thanksgiving over creation, the Sanctus, the words of institution, and an explicit invocation of the Spirit on the gifts. It contains the hymn Let all mortal flesh keep silence.
Why it lasted
The parent of the Syriac and Armenian liturgies and the model for Basil's and Chrysostom's. Its epiclesis is the text the East has always cited against the Western view that the words of institution alone consecrate.
