What it is
Commissioned to refute Gottschalk, he argues that since God is simple and outside time there can be no double anything in him, and that evil has no substance to be predestined.
Why it lasted
So philosophically radical that it was condemned along with the position it was written to attack, leaving its author's orthodoxy suspect ever after.
