What it is
Thirty-nine short sermons on the infancy narrative and the opening of the ministry, opening with the observation that many had tried to write gospels and only four were approved — and naming some of the others.
Why it lasted
Preserves the earliest surviving list of rejected gospels by a writer who had read them, and the earliest sustained Christian preaching on the annunciation and the nativity.
