A defence of Christianity by reason alone, arranged around the image of a triumphal chariot bearing Christ, written at the height of the author's power in Florence.

Why it lasted

Evidence that the friar remembered for burning vanities was also a careful theologian; the book was admired long after he was hanged and burned.
