On the Anger of God

Lactantius · c. 250 – c. 325

Against the Stoics and Epicureans, who agreed that God cannot be angry. Lactantius argues that a God who cannot be angry cannot love either, since the two are one faculty turned two ways — and quotes Epicurus's dilemma in full: is God willing to prevent evil but not able, or able but not willing.
