What it is
A former emperor's refutation of Islam, drawing on the Latin Qur'an translation and on earlier Greek polemic, written as the Ottomans crossed into Europe.
Why it lasted
The last substantial Byzantine engagement with Islam, produced by a monk who had once allied with the Turks himself.
