The Church Fathers · c. 215; authorship disputed

The Apostolic Tradition

Attributed to Hippolytus of Rome · c. 170–c. 235

What it is

A manual of ordination prayers, the three-year catechumenate, the baptismal rite with its questions and anointings, and the eucharistic prayer that follows.

Why it lasted

The most influential liturgical document ever recovered: its eucharistic prayer was adopted almost verbatim by Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran churches in the twentieth century.

Where to read it

This work is in the public domain and can be read in full, free, at the archives below. The Library catalogues it; it does not host the text.

These open a search on each archive rather than a direct link, which is the honest way to point at an edition nobody here has checked line by line.
