What it is
A small, badly spelled service book made for a travelling priest in Gaul, holding a mass for every occasion plus a sermon collection, a penitential, blessings for crops and for a sick horse, and a charm against the evil eye.
Why it lasted
The Gallican rite as actually used by a country priest rather than as a cathedral imagined it, and one of the earliest complete Western service books. Its charms and blessings sit in the same volume as the canon of the mass, without apology.
