What it is
An emperor's treatise ordering the observance of both Sabbath and Sunday, condemning magical practices, and defining correct devotion to Mary and the cross.
Why it lasted
The most substantial theological work by any African monarch, and the settlement of long disputes within the Ethiopian church by imperial decree.
