What it is
A statement of Catholic teaching phrased to remove Protestant misunderstandings, minimising the distance on justification, images, and the saints.
Why it lasted
The most effective irenic Catholic apologetic of the century; it converted Turenne, and Protestants accused it of misrepresenting Rome to Rome's advantage.
