Letter of the Churches of Lyons and Vienne

The Churches of Lyons and Vienne

Read elsewhere

What it is

An account sent to the churches of Asia describing a local pogrom: the mob, the amphitheatre, the aged bishop Pothinus, and the slave Blandina, who outlasted her torturers.

Why it lasted

The most vivid martyrdom narrative of the second century, preserved by Eusebius, and the earliest evidence of Christianity in Gaul.

Where to read it

Public domain and free to read in full, though not held here. The archives below have it.

These open a search on each archive rather than a direct link, which is the honest way to point at an edition nobody here has checked line by line.
