What it is

Dictated letters to the English commanders, to the citizens of towns, and to the Hussites of Bohemia, opening in the name of Jesus and Mary and signed with a cross.

Why it lasted

The only words of Joan's that survive outside a courtroom, dictated by someone who could sign her name and little more.
