What it is
A defence of images written in Arabic for Christians who had stopped venerating them under Muslim and Jewish criticism, arguing the case on grounds a Muslim could follow.
Why it lasted
Iconoclasm answered not from Byzantium but from inside the Islamic world, by the first significant Arabic-speaking Christian theologian known by name.
