What it is
Sixteen sermons on the sacrificial code, opening with the flat claim that read literally these chapters are useless, and then reading every offering, every fat portion and kidney, as a movement of the soul or an aspect of Christ.
Why it lasted
The demonstration that made Leviticus preachable, and the clearest single case for allegory as a necessity rather than an indulgence — if the letter is dead, something must be done with it.
