The Sayings Gospel Q

Reconstructed

What it is

A collection of sayings of Jesus — beatitudes, woes, the Lord's Prayer, the mission charge, the coming judgement — with almost no narrative and no passion account. It exists only as a reconstruction from the material Matthew and Luke share against Mark.

Why it lasted

No copy has ever been found, yet its critical edition sits on the same shelf as the texts that do survive. Whether the church's earliest written memory of Jesus was a story or a list of sayings turns on it.

Where to read it

Public domain and free to read in full, though not held here. The archives below have it.

These open a search on each archive rather than a direct link, which is the honest way to point at an edition nobody here has checked line by line.
