The Sermons
Johannes Tauler · c. 1300–1361
What it is
Preaching on the ground of the soul, on suffering as the shortest road, and on the ordinary work of a cook or a farmhand as no less a vocation than choir.
Why it lasted
Luther called them the purest theology he knew and had them printed; they are the main channel by which Rhineland mysticism reached the Reformation.
Where to read it
This work is in the public domain and can be read in full, free, at the archives below. The Library catalogues it; it does not host the text.
These open a search on each archive rather than a direct link, which is the honest way to point at an edition nobody here has checked line by line.
