What it is
Solomon is given a ring by Michael and uses it to compel every demon to appear, state its name, say what illness it causes and which angel undoes it, and then carry stone for the temple. He loses everything at the end over a foreign woman.
Why it lasted
The bridge between Jewish demonology and Christian exorcism, and the direct ancestor of the medieval grimoire — the reason Solomon's name sits on magical texts for the next fifteen hundred years.
