What it is
An African bishop's year-by-year record, written across a decade of imprisonment and exile for refusing to condemn the Three Chapters, and ending at the year he ran out of freedom to write.
Why it lasted
The Three Chapters controversy from the side that lost and would not yield, by a man the emperor could not persuade and did not kill. It is the main Latin source for the years around the Second Council of Constantinople.
