What it is
A Syriac New Testament revised against Greek manuscripts so literally that the Syriac breaks under it — particles, word order, and even Greek constructions with no Syriac equivalent are reproduced, with variant readings noted in the margin.
Why it lasted
Unreadable as Syriac and invaluable as evidence: because it mirrors its Greek exemplars so exactly, scholars can reconstruct sixth-century Greek manuscripts from it. Its margins preserve readings found in no surviving Greek copy.
