What it is
A church order framed as the risen Christ's own instructions to the apostles before the ascension, prescribing the shape of the building, the ordination prayers, the conduct of widows, and a full eucharistic rite.
Why it lasted
The last of the ancient church orders and the most elaborate, and the one that puts its rules in Christ's mouth directly rather than the apostles'. Still authoritative in the Syriac Orthodox and Ethiopian churches.
