What it is
Four treatises and ten letters written under the name of Paul's Athenian convert: on the divine names, on mystical theology, and on the ranked hierarchies of angels and of the church.
Why it lasted
Accepted as apostolic for a thousand years, it carried Neoplatonism into the heart of Christian theology and shaped every later mystic from Eriugena to John of the Cross.
