What it is

Some nine hundred surviving sermons taken down by stenographers as he preached, ranging from great feasts to ordinary weekdays, and often interrupted by the congregation.

Why it lasted

The largest body of preaching to survive from antiquity, with new sermons still being identified in European libraries.
