The Testament of Abraham

While I was still speaking these things, behold, two angels, fiery in appearance, merciless in disposition, and severe in gaze, were driving tens of thousands of souls, mercilessly beating them with fiery whips.

And one angel was holding one soul. And they led all the souls into the broad gate toward destruction.

So we also followed the angels and came inside that broad gate.

And in the middle, between the two gates, stood a fearsome throne in the form of fearsome crystal, flashing like fire.

And upon it sat a wonderful man, radiant as the sun, resembling a son of God.

And before him stood a crystal-like table, entirely made of gold and fine linen.

And on top of the table was a book lying, its thickness six cubits, and its width ten cubits.

And on its right and on its left stood two angels, holding paper and ink and a reed pen.

And before the table sat a light-bearing angel, holding a balance in his hand.

And on the left sat an angel, entirely fiery, merciless and severe, holding in his hand a trumpet, inside of which he contained all-consuming fire, a testing instrument for sinners.

And the wonderful man sitting on the throne himself judged and pronounced sentence on the souls.

And the two angels, the one on the right and the one on the left, recorded; the one on the right recorded the righteous deeds, and the one on the left the sins.

And the one before the table, holding the balance, weighed the souls.

And the fiery angel, holding the fire, tested the souls.

And Abraham asked the chief commander Michael, “What are these things that we are observing?” And the chief commander said, “These things which you see, holy Abraham, are the judgment and retribution.”

And behold, the angel holding the soul in his hand brought it before the judge.

And the judge said to one of the angels ministering to him, “Open this book for me and find for me the sins of this soul.”

And when he opened the book, he found its balances showing sins and righteous deeds as equal. And he delivered her neither to the torturers nor to those who were being saved, but he stood her in the middle.
