What it is
Aristotle rendered from Greek into Latin word for word, along with Proclus, Archimedes, and Greek commentators, at the request of his friend Aquinas.
Why it lasted
It gave the Latin West an Aristotle free of Arabic intermediaries, and made the thirteenth-century synthesis possible.
