Third Baruch
English, translated by Online Critical Pseudepigrapha — Online Critical Pseudepigrapha, English of the critical text
And I said, “And where does the sun delay, from when the rooster crows?”
And the angel said to me, “Listen, Baruch. All that I have shown you is in the first and second heavens; and in the third heaven the sun passes and gives light to the world. But wait and you will see the glory of God.”
And as I was speaking with him, I saw the bird and it appeared before us, and little by little it grew and was filled.
And behind it, the sun flashing brightly, and the angels with it carrying a crown upon its head, the sight of which we could not endure to gaze upon and see.
And as soon as the sun shone, the Phoenix also spread its wings. But I, seeing such glory, was humbled with great fear, and fled and hid myself in the wings of the angel.
And the angel said to me, “Do not fear, Baruch, but wait, and you will see their setting as well.”
