What it is
Four scraps of a codex bought in Egypt in 1934. A controversy with the lawyers, an attempted stoning, a leper healed, the tribute question, and a broken miracle at the Jordan where something is sown on the water and fruit appears.
Why it lasted
One of the oldest Christian manuscripts in existence and a gospel that reads as though it knew both John and the synoptics, or as though all of them drew on something shared. The riverbank miracle has no parallel anywhere.
