The War Scroll

English, translated by AI For Bible — from the Qumran-Digital transcription of 1QM

like the fire of His wrath against the idols of Egypt. [blank]

And after they go up from over the slain to come to the camp, they shall all sing the psalm of the return. And in the morning they shall wash their garments and cleanse themselves

from the blood of the corpses of guilt. And they shall return to the place where they stood, where they had arrayed the battle-line before the slain of the enemy fell. And there they shall bless,

all of them, the God of Israel, and exalt His name together in gladness. And they shall answer and say: Blessed be the God of Israel, who keeps mercy for His covenant, and testimonies of

salvation for the people of His redemption. And He has called the stumbling to [wonderful might], and an assembly of nations He has gathered for annihilation with no remnant; and to raise up in judgement

a melting heart, and to open the mouth of the dumb to sing of the migh[t of God]; and slack [hands ]to teach war. And He gives to those whose knees give way a firmness of station,

and strength of loins to the shoulder of the smitten. And by the poor ⟨the humble⟩ of spirit [] a hard heart; and by the perfect of way shall all the nations of wickedness come to an end,

and for all their mighty men there is no standing. But we are a rem[nant … Blessed be] Your name, O God of mercies, who keeps the covenant with our fathers. And with

all our generations You have made Your mercies wonderful to a remna[nt … ] under the dominion of Belial. And in all the mysteries of his enmity they have not driven [us]

from Your covenant; and the spirits of his [de]struction You have rebuked from [us. And when the me]n of his dominion acted wickedly, You kept the soul of Your redemption. And You have raised up

the fallen by Your strength, and the high of stature You cut do[wn … ]. For all their mighty men there is no deliverer, and for their swift ones no escape; and their honoured ones

You turn to contempt. And all the standing substance of [their] vanities [ … is n]ought. But we, the people of Your holiness, will praise Your name for the works of Your truth;

and for Your mighty deeds we will exalt [blank] [Your] be[auty at all ]times and the appointed times of everlasting testimonies, at the c[omin]g in of day and night

and the going out of evening and morning. For great is the de[sign of ]Your [glo]ry, and the mysteries of Your wonders in [Your] heights, to ra[i]se up for Yourself from the dust

and to bring low from among the gods. [blank]

Be exalted, be exalted, O God of gods, and lift Yourself up in stren[gth … ]

[al]l the [s]ons of darkness. And the light of Your greatness []
