The War Scroll

1 and He shall set their peace in a burning [ … ] those tested in the crucible. He shall sharpen the weapons of His war, and they shall not be blunted until [ … ]

2 wickedness. And you, remember the judgement [of Nadab and ]Abi[h]u, sons of Aaron, by whose judgement God showed Himself holy before the eyes of [ … ]

3 But Ithamar He held fast for Himself, for an everlasting covenant [ … ]. [blank]

4 And you, be strong, and do not fear them [ … ]. Their longing is for chaos and emptiness, and their support is in what is not [ … ] and not [ … ]

5 Israel — all that is and that shall be, and [ … ] in all that comes to be for ever. This day is His appointed time to subdue and to bring low the prince of the dominion of

6 wickedness. And He shall send everlasting help to the lot of His [r]edemption ⟨of His covenant⟩ by the might of the majestic angel, for the office [blank] of Michael, in everlasting light,

7 to give light in gladness to the covenant of Israel — peace and blessing for the lot of God — to exalt among the gods the office of Michael, and the dominion of

8 Israel among all flesh. Righteousness shall rejoice in the heights, and all the sons of His truth shall exult in everlasting knowledge. And you, the sons of His covenant,

9 be strong in the crucible of God, until He waves His hand and His crucibles are full — His mysteries for your standing. [blank]

10 And after these words the priests shall blow for them, to array the standards of the battle-line; and the heads spread out at the sound of the trumpets

11 until [each ma]n takes [his] statio[n]. And the priests shall blow on the trumpets a second blast, directing the advance. And when

12 the [skirmishers] reach [the batt]le-line of the Kittim, within casting range, each shall lift his hand with the weapon of his war; and the priests shall sound on the trumpets

13 over the slain, [and the Levites and al]l the people with the rams' horns shall sound the war-shout. And the skirmishers shall stretch out their hand against the army of

14 the Kittim. [And with the going out of the soun]d of [the sh]out they shall begin to bring down their slain. And all the people shall let the sound of the shout rest, and the priests

15 shall keep sounding on [the trumpets over the slai]n, and the ba[ttl]e is pr[esse]d against the K[ittim … ] str[u]ck down before them.
