The War Scroll
English, translated by AI For Bible — from the Qumran-Digital transcription of 1QM
The trumpets shall keep sounding to direct the slingers, until they have finished hurling seven
times. And afterward the priests shall blow for them on the trumpets of return, and they shall come to the side of the
first battle-line, to take their station. And the priests shall blow on the trumpets of summoning, and there shall go out
three standards of skirmishers from the gates, and they shall stand between the battle-lines; and at their side the chariot-men,
on the right and on the left. And the priests shall blow on the trumpets a sustained note, directing the order of battle.
And the heads shall spread out to their ranks, each to his station. And when they stand in three ranks,
the priests shall blow for them a second blast, a low and steady note, directing the advance, until they draw near
to the battle-line of the enemy. And they shall stretch out their hand with the weapons of war. And the priests shall sound on the six trumpets of
the slain a sharp, insistent note, to direct the battle. And the Levites and all the people with the rams' horns shall sound
one note, a great war-shout, to melt the heart of the enemy. And with the sound of the shout the war-darts shall go out
to bring down the slain. The sound of the rams' horns shall fall silent, and on the tr[um]pets
the priests shall keep sounding a sharp, insistent note, directing the hand of the battle, until they have hurled at the battle-line of
