The Testament of Solomon

And I commanded another demon to appear before me. And he came before my face, having the form of a large dog, and he spoke to me with a loud voice, “Hail, O King Solomon.”

And I was amazed and said to him, “Who are you, dog?” And he said, “You think I am a dog. For before you, O King, I was a man. But I accomplished many unlawful deeds in the world, and I prevailed by superiority, and I held the stars of the heavens, and I contrive more evil deeds.”

Therefore, I harm people who follow my star, and I turn them to madness, and I seize the minds of men through the throat, and thus I destroy them.

And I said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Rabdos.”

And I said to him, “What is your work, and what do you think you can accomplish for me?” The demon said, “Give me a man of yours, and I will lead him to a mountain place, and I will show him a green stone that moves, with which you will adorn the Temple of God.”

And I, having heard these things, ordered my servant to go with him, having the ring of the seal of God with him, and I said to him, “Go with him, and wherever he shows you the green stone, seal it with the ring, observe the place carefully, and bring the ring to me.”

And he went and showed him the green stone, and he sealed it with the ring of God, and they brought the green stone to me.

And I decided, having sealed the two demons, the headless one and the dog, to bind them and to carry the stone day and night like a lamp for the working craftsmen.

And I took from the removal of that stone two hundred shekels in the altar's stands. And the stone was like the appearance of a leek.

And I, Solomon, having glorified the Lord God and enclosed the treasure of the stone, commanded the demons to hew marbles for the building of the Temple.

And I asked the dog, “By which angel are you rendered inactive?” And he said, “By the great Briathos.”
