The Testament of Solomon

And I inquired of the demon if there were female demons. And when he said there were, I wished to know them.

And Beelzeboul went and showed me Onoskelis, having a very beautiful form, and the body of a fair-skinned woman, but with the legs of a she-mule.

And when she came to me, I said to her, “Tell me, who are you?”

And she said, “I am called Onoskelis, an embodied spirit that dwells on the earth; I have my dwelling in caves, and I have a multifaceted character.”

Sometimes I choke a human, other times I distort them from nature. My dwellings are mostly cliffs, caves, and ravines.

Many times I even have intercourse with humans, who think I am a woman, especially with those who are fair-skinned, because these are my fellow-star worshipers. For these worship my star secretly and openly and do not know that they harm themselves and provoke me to be more evil.

For they wish to acquire gold through remembrance. But I give a little to those who worship me well.

And I asked her from where she was born. And she said, “I was born from an untimely sound, that which is called ‘echo of the sky,’ when lead emitted a sound in matter.”

And I said to her, “Under what star do you pass?” And she said, “During the full moon, because I travel mostly during the moon.”

And I said, “Which angel is it that renders you ineffective?” And she said, “The one who is also in you, O king.”

And I, considering these things to be mockery, ordered a soldier to strike her. And she cried out and said, “I tell you, O king, I swear by the wisdom of God given to you.”

And I spoke the name of the Holy One of Israel and ordered her to spin the hemp for the ropes of the work of the temple of God. And thus, sealed and bound, she was compelled to stand night and day spinning the hemp.
