The Testament of Solomon

And I commanded other demons to come before me again. And one came roaring like a lion, standing upright, and he answered me with a word, “King Solomon, I also have this form, a spirit that can in no way be bound.”

“I attack all people lying sick, entering stealthily, and I make the person relentless, so that the cause of their illness cannot be healed.”

“I also have another activity: I dispatch the legions of demons subject to me, for I am from the western regions, and the name for all the demons under me is ‘legions.’”

And I asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Leonotophoron. An Arab by race.”

And I said to him, “How are you rendered inactive with your legion, or what angel do you have?” The demon said, “If I tell you the name, I bind not only myself but also the legion of demons under me.”

But I said to him, “I adjure you by the name of the great God Most High: by what name are you rendered inactive with your legion?” The demon said, “By the name of the one who endured much suffering from humans, whose name is Emmanuel, who even now has bound us and will come upon a precipice of water to torture us. And he is brought down by three characters, resounding.”

And I condemned his legion to bring wood from the forest, and Leonotophoron to saw them into small pieces with his claws and throw them beneath the lime kiln.
