The Testament of Solomon

And I commanded another spirit to appear to me. And a spirit came, having the form of a man, dark, and with shining eyes. And I questioned him, saying, “Who are you?” And he said, “I am a violent spirit of a giant man who died in slaughter at the time of the giants.”

And I said to him, “Tell me what you do on earth and where you have your dwelling.” And he said to me, “My dwelling is in inaccessible places. This is my work: I sit beside dead people in tombs, and prematurely I deform the dead, and if I seize anyone, I immediately kill him with the sword.”

“But if I am unable to kill, I cause him to be demonized and to devour his own flesh, and saliva to flow down from his cheeks.”

And I said to him, “Fear the God of heaven and earth, and tell me by what angel you are rendered powerless.” And he said to me, “The Savior who is to come down renders me powerless, whose sign is on his forehead; if anyone writes it, he renders me powerless, and being rebuked, I quickly turn away from him. This sign is a cross.”

And I, Solomon, having heard these things, confined the demon just as I did the other demons.
