The Testament of Solomon

And I asked the other demon that had come up from the sea with the pillar, “Who are you, and what is your name, and what is your work? For I hear many things about you.”

And the demon said, “I, King Solomon, am called Abezehtibou; and formerly I sat in the first heaven, whose name is Amelouth.”

“I am therefore a grievous and winged and one-winged spirit, a plotter against every breath under the heavens. I was present when Moses entered before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, hardening his heart.”

“I am the one whom Jannes and Jambres invoked, who contended with Moses in Egypt. I am the one who strove against Moses in the wonders and in the signs.”

Then I said to it, “How then were you found in the Red Sea?” And it said, “At the exodus of the sons of Israel, I hardened the heart of Pharaoh and made his heart and the hearts of his servants proud.”

“And I made them pursue after the sons of Israel, and Pharaoh and all the Egyptians followed. Then I was present there and we followed, and we all went up into the Red Sea.”

“And it happened when the sons of Israel had crossed over, the water turned back and covered all the camp of the Egyptians; then I was found there and was covered by the water and remained in the sea, guarded beneath the pillar until Ephippas came up.”

And I, Solomon, swore him to hold the pillar until the consummation.

And with God, I adorned his Temple in all beauty. And I was rejoicing and glorifying him.
