The Testament of Solomon

And having blessed God, I commanded another spirit to appear. And another demon came before me, having the form of a horse in front and a fish behind. And it spoke with a loud voice: “King Solomon, I am a difficult sea spirit. Therefore, I arise and come upon the open seas from the sea and hinder the people sailing in it.”

“And rousing myself like a wave and transforming myself, I enter the ships. And this is my work, to receive goods and people. For I take and stir up and cast men into the sea; thus, I crave bodies, but I cast them out of the sea up to here.”

“Since Beelzeboul, the master of airy, earthly, and subterranean spirits, advises concerning the actions of each one of us, for this reason, I also came up from the sea to receive some counsel from him.”

“And I have another appearance and action: I transform into waves and come up from the sea and show myself to people, and they call me Kynopegos because I transform into a man; my name is true. And I send a certain nausea to people through my ascent.”

“So I came to the counsel of the ruler Beelzeboul, and he bound me into your hands. But now I stand before you, and because I have no water for two or three days, my spirit that speaks to you fails.”

And I said to him, “Tell me by what angel you are rendered powerless.” And he said, “By Iameth.”

And I commanded him to be thrown into a flask, and ten measures of seawater to be poured around it, and I sealed it on top with marble, and I covered the mouth of the vessel with asphalt, pitch, and tow, and having sealed it with the ring, I commanded it to be placed in the temple of God.
