Second Baruch

Are these the commands that your companion,

Jeremiah the prophet, commanded you and said to you:

Watch over

this people while I go and direct the rest of our brothers

in Babylon,

those upon whom the sentence went forth that they should be taken captive?

And now, if you also leave us,

it would be better for all of us to die first,

and then you could depart from us.
