Second Baruch

English, translated by Online Critical Pseudepigrapha — Online Critical Pseudepigrapha, English of the critical text

Now the angels

did

as he commanded them.

And when they had shattered the corners of the wall,

a voice was heard from the midst of the temple,

after the wall had fallen, saying:

"Enter, enemies, and come, adversaries,

for he who was guarding the house has forsaken it!"

And I, Baruch, departed.

And it happened after these things

that the army of the Chaldeans entered,

and they seized the house and everything around it.

And they took the people captive,

and some of them they killed,

and they bound Zedekiah the king and sent him to the king of Babylon.
