Second Baruch

And I answered and said:

"How straying are those for whom woe is then reserved!

And why, then, do we still mourn for those who die,

or why do we weep for those who go to Sheol?

Let laments be reserved for the beginning of that coming torment,

and let tears be laid up for the coming of that

destruction

of that time."

But in reply to these things he said:

"And what shall the righteous do now?

Rejoice in the suffering that you suffer now!

For why do you look

upon the decline

of your enemies?

Prepare your souls for that which is reserved

for you,

and make ready your souls for the reward that is set for you."

And when I had said these things, I fell asleep there.
